The Richard Review of Apprenticeships, released yesterday has conducted a thorough investigation of what works and what doesn't in the present system. With a record number of young people having started apprenticeships in 2011, it is vital that they are given the right skills at the right time to meet the needs of industry. A number of changes have already been made: for example, increasing the minimum length of apprenticeships, the introduction of Higher Apprenticeships, and the new 24+ Advanced Learning Loans, but there is still more to do. This half-day broadcast event will examine the initial results of the Richard Review, with presentations by experts from the education sector and employers on the future of apprenticeships in the UK.
