Shirley Stronge
Shirley Stronge, Teaching Fellow – Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast
Shirley has been working as a Midwifery Teaching Fellow in Queens University Belfast School of Nursing and Midwifery since 2008. She is also studying for a MA in midwifery at Queens University (part time) and undertaking research in relation to Female Genital Mutilation. She is presently part of collaboration involved in midwifery education in Ethiopia and has just returned from her second trip there this year. Prior to working in Queens, Shirley worked as a Nurse/Midwifery tutor in Ekwendeni in the north of Malawi for almost 6 years. Whilst there her particular interests were HIV in pregnancy and in particular infant feeding practices for mothers that are HIV positive. Shirley did her initial general nurse and midwifery training in Northern Ireland.
