Alison Williams
Alison Williams, Maternal Obesity Lead Co-ordinator, Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust
Before Alison’s current specialist midwifery role, she was a Community Midwife for over 10 years. She has an interest in providing health promotion and particularly in encouraging activity and exercise for pregnant women.
She prefers to use the title ‘Healthy Lifestyle Midwives', and has developed an initiative which aims to educate and support pregnant women with a BMI over 30.
Her ‘Monday Clinic’ is midwifery-led, and an appointment with us gives women an extra episode of care over and above the antenatal care pathway. This means we can offer dedicated time to encouraging positive lifestyle behaviours, which will be sustainable in the postnatal period.
