Gemma Castle

After graduating from St Martin’s College, Lancaster with a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science in 2004, Gemma joined the Seashell Trust as CADS (Children’s Able and Disabled Sport) Development Officer. Seashell Trust provides education and residential care for children, young people and adults with complex communication difficulties. Gemma has overseen the development of CADS from a single-site initiative run on the Seashell Trust campus to one which is now offered at venues across the North West of England including Sport City in Manchester. Now in its eighth year CADS has won several awards including the 2009 BBC Power of Sport Award and the 2010 National Lottery award for the UK’s best lottery-funded sport project. In 2011 the Seashell Trust plans to develop a fully-accredited CADS training programme.
