Imkaan is a UK-based national second tier organisation dedicated to challenging violence against Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Refugee women and children.
Marai is a dynamic and inspirational public speaker on violence against women and girls, gender, race and identity. She has spoken on a variety of platforms in the UK and internationally, including Australia, Poland and Canada.
She is passionate and dedicated to working on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) issues and has over 16 years of experience of developing cutting edge services for women and children. On a strategic level she continues to influence policy and thinking, in a range of contexts, to ensure that the needs and aspirations of BMER women and girls are appropriately represented and addressed.
She has recently been awarded an MBE for services to Black and Minority Ethnic women.
