Deputy Assistant Commissioner METROPOLITAN POLICE

Cressida Dick is a police officer who has served in a variety of roles in London and also in Thames Valley Police. In 2001 she was appointed Commander in the Met’s Diversity Directorate responsible for implementing the recommendations of The Stephen Lawrence Enquiry and the Met’s wider diversity strategy and policies. She was transferred to the Specialist Crime Directorate in 2003 with responsibility for tackling gun crime, organised crime and threats to life. Since April 2007, she has been Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Protection and Security in London. She currently leads the Met’s response to “Counter-Terrorism: The London Debate”, the Metropolitan Police Authority’s wide ranging inquiry into the causes and effects of terrorism amongst our wider communities.
