Ian Cowles, vice-president for UK Business Development joined BT in 2010. His long and varied career working for the NHS has spanned both strategic and operational roles in the NHS and across Government, managing NHS acute, community and shared business services organisations.

Most recently Ian was group director NHS Care Record Service at NHS Connecting for Health (NHSCfH). He was responsible for developing the commercial and contractual frameworks, and negotiating and managing National Programme for Information Technology (NPfIT) Local Service Provider (LSP) contracts exceeding £6bn. .

Previously, Ian was also responsible for developing and managing the first NHS Health Informatics Service (HIS). This was a shared services organisation which provided Information Management & Technology (IM+T) services to NHS organisations across a single Strategic Health Authority (SHA).
