Carolyn Fowler
Carolyn Fowler is the Registrar and Secretary at Durham University, a post she has held since April 2009.
Her career in Higher Education began in 1995 at Northumbria University, where she worked as a Departmental Administrator for two years before moving back to Durham University (her alma mater) to a role in the School of Education.
She then headed the Undergraduate courses and quality office and project managed a major academic restructuring before being appointed Deputy Director of the Strategic Planning and Change Unit and then Academic Registrar.
She also managed Durham’s submission to RAE2008. Her background is solidly a higher education management one although in previous positions she worked for a local radio station in advertising sales, marketing and promotional work and an engineering company specialising in on-site management and refurbishment of high voltage electrical equipment.
She is currently Chair of the 1994 Group Registrars.
