Jane Munro
Jane qualified as a midwife in 1980. She has worked in France, the Ivory Coast and several different NHS hospitals in the UK. She has been involved in research and developing evidence-based practice in midwifery for the last 15 years.
She has been working at the Royal College of Midwives since 2009. Her role involves managing the interface with NICE, SIGN and other similar UK organisations, including co-coordinating the responses to consultations. Jane represents the RCM at a range of external meetings and forums. She is RCM lead on quality and audit and guideline development activities. She is currently working on updating evidence-based guidelines on midwifery-led care in labour and audit projects on midwifery practice including positions used in labour and homebirth.
Her particular interests lie in maternal psychological well-being; different models of midwifery care; promoting normal birth and the development and use of maternity care guidelines.
