Jan Sobieraj is Chief Executive of NHS Sheffield, with a budget of approximately £850m and 2,500 staff.

Before his appointment, Jan was Chief Executive of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and was previously Chief Executive at an NHS trust in Lincolnshire, working in community and mental health services. In addition to his health service experience, he has also held a number of senior general management positions in social housing and the private sector.

Jan is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Centre of Health Improvement and Leadership at the University of Lincoln and Sheffield Hallam University. He is also Governor of the Health Foundation, a member of the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement Sounding Board, a member of the NHS National Advisory Committee for Resource Allocation and a member of the National Quality Board Prioritisation Committee. In addition, Jan is a Senior Associate to the King’s Fund and Chair of the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Leadership Group.
