Bernie Jones
Bernie Jones is an experienced Leisure Professional who has worked in public, private and Trust sectors for over 35 years. His experiences include managing some of the country’s largest leisure centres; organising major sporting events; marketing and launching the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham; and Regional/Tendering Director for a private sector organisation. Currently Chief Executive of Trafford Community Leisure Trust, joining just after it was established in 2003, Bernie has overseen the growth and development of the Trust, seeing the organisation quadrupling its turnover; more than doubling the amount of staff it employs; and increasing participation by more than 100% whilst at the same time significantly reducing costs for the local rate-payers.
Despite being a former international athlete, and being involved in the organisation of many World and International sporting events, Bernie puts down his involvement as a Games Maker at the Paralympic Games as one of his most rewarding and will be ensuring his organisation maximises the benefits of London 2012.
