Dr Richard Lewis
Dr Richard Lewis is a director in Ernst and Young’s health advisory practice. He provides strategic advice to the Department of Health and NHS organisations and his particular interests are health system reform, commissioning and primary care. Richard has advised the Department of Health on its Vision for Primary and Community Care, part of Lord Darzi’s NHS Next Stage Review and on their strategy for long term conditions. Richard is currently co-leading the national evaluation of integrated care organisations.
Prior to joining Ernst and Young, Richard was a senior fellow at the King's Fund and remains a Senior Associate. He spent a year on secondment to the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit. Richard joined the NHS through the national graduate management scheme and has worked at all levels in the NHS, in the 1990s spending several years as an executive director of a large health authority in London. He continues to publish on health policy in national, trade and academic journals.
