Lesley Strachan
As a programme group leader Lesley leads the curriculum enhancement on undergraduate degrees. As well as teaching, she also mentors small businesses, and sources live client briefs for the marketing group so that students get real world experiences during their studies.
Recent successful changes within the curriculum include the embedding of simulations within business and marketing degree courses, and the award of the CIM Multi Award Pathway to enable students to graduate with professional accreditations alongside with their degree. Lesley has an MBA, is a Professional Diploma in Management, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Taught units include: Introduction to Advertising, Advertising Management and Media Strategy, Evaluation of Creative Advertising, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Management, Strategic Marketing in Business, Branding Management, CIM Postgraduate units including Strategic Marketing Decisions and Emerging Themes.
Lesley has industry experience in the following areas: telecoms, accountancy, services, leisure, arts, hardware and software.
Lesley's interest in research covers: Micro Enterprises, small businesses, marketing, skill acquisition, business simulation experiences and active learning.
She is working on a PhD - To explore and interpret the cognitive space of owner managers in terms of the events that occur in their business life that triggers a conscious or unconscious decision to learn about marketing a business.
