Jason Schaub
Jason Schaub’s honours degree is in psychology and music from University of Redlands, California, and an MSW with a concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse from University of Missouri, Kansas City.
He practiced as a counselling social worker in the USA and a children’s social worker first in Ireland, and later in the UK in a number of London boroughs, in roles of increasing responsibility within Children’s Social Care.
He has experience in research, with recent projects including: a community project exploring the alcohol and substance misuse of LGBT people in East London; several projects for local authorities investigating issues across children’s services.
His current projects include: a national survey about social work and sexuality; and a project exploring the safeguarding knowledge of adult care home staff. His doctoral research (current) explores the experience of male social work students in England, undertaking a national study using both quantitative analysis and qualitative interviews. He teaches both Children & Families Practice and Research Methods on a number of programmes. He is also the course leader for the MSc in Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding.
