Emma Maynard
Emma Maynard graduated from Cardiff University with BA (Hons) in Education in 1995 and embarked on a career in health and social care, working with children and families with additional needs, especially those with chronic health needs. She was recognised for her practice when she was a finalist at the DOH Health and Social Care Awards in 2003, whilst leading a specialist team developing a strategy and service for young carers families in West Sussex. This involved extensive participation work with children and young people which remains a key area of interest.
Most latterly she managed Integrated Services, coordinating early intervention for families with additional social needs. Given her professional background her research interests cluster around children's social and emotional development and functioning. This became the focus of her research project when she completed her MA in Learning and Teaching in 2012.
Emma is currently involved, together with some colleagues from the School of Education, in the writing of a book; Rethinking Social Issues in Education, and I am preparing for doctoral studies.
