Judith Stepan-Norris joined UC Irvine as Assistant Professor of Sociology in 1990, served as Chair of the Sociology Department, 1998-2002 where she led the department in a major growth spurt, served as Chair of the UCI Academic Senate, 2009-2010, and as Social Science Equity Advisor, 2012-2014.

She was appointed Vice Provost for Academic Planning in 2014 where she oversees the campus’ strategic planning, accreditation, the High Impact Hiring Plan, the system-wide Innovative Learning Technology Initiative, and serves as acting dean for programs that report directly to the Provost.
