Professor Springman has been professor of geotechnical engineering at ETH Zurich since 1997, and rector since January 2015. Focusing on the geotechnical aspects of natural hazards, she is widely published, active in several international research organisations, has given many keynote lectures and inspired many young women to take up engineering degrees.
