Colin Davies
Colin is an independent Intellectual Property Law consultant providing research facilities and training services to both industry and academia and is currently researching into the interface between Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law.
Colin has extensive experience in practice and academia, both in the UK, as equity partner in a large commercial practice, and in the US where he was appointed one of Florida’s first foreign legal consultants. Whilst in Florida he was also legal advisor to the UK Consulate.
On returning to the UK, he focused on the training of new solicitors as Director of Studies/Senior Lecturer at the University of South Wales. He was Programme Director for an LL.M in Intellectual Property programme delivered at the UKIPO and was also responsible for the academic training of patent and trademark examiners at the UK Intellectual Property Office.
He currently holds the position of External Examiner for the Intellectual Property Law programme at BPP University, one of Europe’s leading providers of professional education.Colin has written extensively in peer reviewed international academic legal journals, and was co-author of the Kluwer Encyclopaedia of Intellectual Property Law for the UK. He has also been involved in various, UK Government led, legislation and policy consultations and other, national and international, initiatives, including the Gowers Review of Intellectual Property.
