Glynis has worked at Liverpool Hope University since 2003 with Widening Participation. The initial role was a part-time secondment to research best practice in raising attainment in underachieving boys, and funded nationally, this teaching fellowship informed UK government policy.

As Centre Manager at CWPO since September 2005, Glynis has developed a progressive curriculum for young people from primary to VIth form level which enables students to reach their full potential, helps realise individual goals and aspirations and readies them for engagement in Higher Education.

Liverpool Hope is fortunate to have a highly skilled, experienced and professional team able to deliver the Centre’s projects. The Centre is grateful for support from Hope’s lecturers, external partners and the undergraduates who have worked at the Centre, who are excellent role models who inspire their younger peers. Glynis is originally from Northern Ireland and came over to England in 1975 to study BA (Hons) Geography and Geology at Manchester University. After graduating, she took her PGCE in Liverpool teaching secondary-level Maths and Physics. Over the past 30 years, her career has been devoted to teaching in Liverpool at secondary level; initially at Mary Help of Christians Catholic School for Girls and then St. John Bosco (Girls).

In 1990, and for the following fifteen years, Glynis was a dedicated member of staff at Cardinal Heenan Sports College. Progressing through Head of Department and then Head of Year, she finished as the Head of VIth Form for the school, working collaboratively across Merseyside to promote geography, progression to HE and life skills.

Glynis has enjoyed both academic teaching and pastoral care and has great empathy for student transition. In the past, she has developed modules that support academic achievement, pathway choices and personal development.
