Sandrina Sangers
Mezzo (Dutch Association for Carers & Voluntary Help)
Sandrina Sangers works as Project Manager Werk&Mantelzorg (Work & Care) at Mezzo, The Dutch Association for Carers and Voluntary Help.
From 2005 to 2008 she was also actively involved in the development of Eurocarers, the European Association working for Carers
Sandrina has worked on Caring and Employment issues since 2005. From 2005 to 2007 she worked on a Dutch project which developed several instruments for employers who wanted their business to become ‘carer friendly’. The project was initiated by Mezzo and Qidos, a professional HR-consultancy. The project worked in conjunction with other EU funded projects in UK, Estonia, Latvia and Italy from 2005 to 2007.
To create a carer-friendly culture the project focused on awareness, acceptance and culture within organisations as previous research has demonstrated that these factors are the key issues in solving problems of carers successfully.
Several instruments were developed and more employers, (large companies, but also small enterprises) municipalities, trade unions, insurance companies and Carers’ Service Centers joined Werk&Mantelzorg, each contributing from their own experiences and business types.
The Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports financed the project for 4 years and is also actively involved in the project.
