Professor Sue Yeandle

Professor Sue Yeandle (University of Leeds) is co-Director of CIRCLE (Centre for International Research on Care, Labour and Equalities). She currently leads the national evaluations of the Department of Health’s Caring with Confidence programme and of its National Carers Strategy Demonstrator Sites, two innovative policy developments for carers in England. In 2008 Sue was Special Adviser to the House of Commons Work and Pensions Committee for its Inquiry on Carers, as well as a member of the UK government’s Carers and Employment Task Force, advising on the review of the National Carers Strategy. Sue holds a PhD from the University of Kent and has published widely on care, gender and equalities. Her books include Cash for Care in Developed Welfare States (edited with Ungerson, 2007); she led the influential Carers, Employment and Services Study (published by Carers UK in 2007), and in 2009 published two reports on carers and telecare.
