Brian Lister
Prinicipal and Chief Executive, Stevenson College Edinburgh
Brian studied at Musselburgh Grammar School before joining the Scientific Civil Service at Bush Estate, Penicuik. Following continued study at Napier College in Edinburgh he progressed to Stirling University in 1975 before taking up an appointment as a Science teacher at Lornshill Academy, Alloa in 1979. In 1986 he joined Lauder College as a lecturer and following progression through the management structure was appointed Depute Principal of Lauder College in 1996.
In August 1999 he was appointed Principal of Cumbernauld College and led the College through a period of unprecedented growth. In April 2006, he undertook the role of Acting Chief Executive in SFEU in a part-time capacity to support the establishment of a single support agency to be known as Scotland’s Colleges. In August 2007, he accepted the role on a full-time secondment basis in order to more successfully deliver the desired outcome. In September 2008 he returned to college management as Principal and Chief Executive of Stevenson College Edinburgh. During the last two years the College has experienced real growth in both its commercial and international business and has established a reputation as a College which promotes innovation and enterprise.
