Jackie McCormick, Sure Start Children’s Centre Locality Manager, West Northumberland

Jackie is employed by Northumberland County Council as a locality manager covering a rural area of 975 square miles with 5 Sure Start Children’s Centres. The area borders with Scotland and includes communities along the Roman Hadrian’s Wall. Delivering services in this deeply rural area involves creative and imaginative approaches involving unlikely partners such as the Fire Service and the Ministry of Defence!

Jackie has followed a varied multi agency career path, spanning residential social work, special educational needs, domestic violence, housing, community development and social policy. A degree in sociology and politics and post graduate work on participation, housing policy and the NPQICL gives Jackie a strong community development ethos and a true passion for community and parental involvement.
