Sir Robert Kerslake

Sir  Robert Kerslake
Sir Robert Kerslake is currently Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council. He has a BSC (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Warwick.

Sheffield is the fourth largest city in England. It has achieved a CPA excellent rating and was Council of the year 2005. Sheffield City Council employs approximately 20,000 staff and has a budget of £525m net (over £1billion gross, including housing). It serves a population of approximately 513,000 people.

Whilst at Sheffield City Council his outside commitments have included being Director of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, a Member of Sheffield First Partnership, Director of the Black C.A.R.D Board, Co-chair of the Safer Sheffield Steering Group, a Member of the South Yorkshire Learning and Skills Council, a Member of Urban Summit
a Member of the South Yorkshire Forum, Co-chair of Sheffield Partnership for Health, a Member of Sheffield First for Investment Board, Member of Sheffield Common Purpose 2000 Advisory Group, Member of Objective 1 Programme Monitoring Committee/Programme Management Board, Member of Office of the Deputy Prime Ministers Board, Sheffield One Company Secretary, serving on Various Partnership Boards (regions and city) and being a Member of the Equalities Review Panel and of the National Employment Panel.

Prior to his time at Sheffield, Sir Robert spent eight years with London Borough of Hounslow as Director of Finance from 1989 to 1990 and as Chief Executive from 1990-1997 (gross budget of £400m). From 1985 until 1989 he worked for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA) where he was responsible for the main account of ILEA with expenditure of over £1billion and from 1979 to 1985 he worked for the Greater London Council (GLC).
