Richard Mills
Richard Mills is the National Autistic Society’s (NAS) Director of Research and the Research Director and Honorary Secretary of Research Autism, a research trust established in 2004 to commission and fund research into interventions in autism.
He is Associate Editor and editorial board member of Autism, the International Journal of Research and Practice.
From 1991 until 2004 Richard was the NAS Director of Services responsible for all direct service provision of the NAS. This included early years, schools, adult residential and day services, the setting up of the EarlyBird Programme, the supported employment service ‘Prospects’ and the NAS Autism Accreditation Programme.
He has recently completed a research briefing for the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) on access to social care for adults with autistic conditions and is a member of the NICE Guideline Development Group for Adults with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
He is the appointed adviser on autism to the States of Jersey and to the Inspire Foundation Malta.
