Dr Paul Plant
Dr Paul Plant is Deputy Regional Director of Public Health for London and heads up the Department of Health’s Regional Public Health Group. His teams work with a range of partners addressing health inequalities through the wider determinants of health, including work, housing and urban development and by taking forward action on tobacco control, alcohol and obesity as well as children’s health. He has a particular interest in the role the economy and work plays in relation to health improvement and health inequalities, as well as how London as an urban environment shapes health outcomes.
Paul is a public health specialist, having trained as a health economist and then subsequently completing a Ph.D in public health on health inequalities. He has worked in a variety of health service, academic and policy related posts.
