@Jo Cursley:Nick Hardwick mentions the role of the arts in developing young offenders' employability skills, but that htis cannot be measured. However, the Marchmont Observatory within the University of Exeter (UOE) developed an Award which assesses and feeds back on the employability skills achieved through an arts project. This has now been accredited by edexcel. We (UOE) is working with the charity Superact with this Edexcel qualitification callld SEPE. After a pilot at HMP The Verne which was very successful, we are now at present piloting this in European prisons with Leonardo funding.
Please do contact me to find out more about this - I am willing to do a talk about it at a future conference if this is relevant.or to respond to emails. Superact are now a training arm for this Award.
